Chuck’s passion for cycling came later in life when moving to Bend in 1988 after graduating from Washington State University. That passion grew upon meeting his wife, Karen, and avid racer. In 2004 while working as the executive director of the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation (MBSEF), Chuck negotiated the ownership of the Cascade Cycling Classic from a volunteer board to MBSEF. In the following years, MBSEF turned the event into one of its larger fundraisers. It was during this period that Chuck became exposed to the wonderful community of OBRA. He started as an official then joined a club and started racing. In 2015, Chuck and a partner started TFG Racing to bring back weekly racing in Bend.

Chuck led MBSEF, a robust nonprofit dedicated to supporting competitive snow sports in Bend, Oregon, for nine years. In 2011, he joined Academy Mortgage as a loan officer and embarked on earning his MBA from Concordia University. In 2014, he founded Super Hackle, LLC, drawing on his longtime experience as an outdoor guide, to research and develop new products in the fly-fishing industry. In March of 2018, Chuck was hired as OBRA’s new executive director. He believes OBRA’s traditions of making race promotion as easy and seamless as possible, having affordable membership, and creating a community where every person feels welcome and included are the cornerstones of OBRA’s success.

In his spare time, Chuck enjoys road, mountain and gravel riding, skiing, and still dabbles in guiding fly-fishing trips on the Deschutes River. Chuck lives in Bend with his wife Karen, dogs Nelson and Lucy, and their cat Mimi.

Jen started racing bikes in her late 20s, after finding love for the bike as a messenger in
Portland. She focused mainly on the track and found some success there at a national level.
During that time, she was sponsored by the downtown bike shop she managed for many years.

After retiring from high-level competition, she increased her officiating duties at the track and
became the track director after Mike Murray’s retirement. She also officiates many road and CX events. All bikes, all the time!
